I really enjoyed this story of a whale that helped make a penguin's dream come true but considering that this is a children's book, I wondered why there were no illustrations other than the one on the cover. I would love to have seen Akid crashing to the ground after a failed attempt to fly while his penguin buddies roll on the ground laughing at him. I also would love to have seen Akid flying through the air after his "assist" from Port. I would like to have seen the astonishment on the other penguins' faces when they saw Akid "flying". There could have been an illustration of Port looking on in satisfaction after Akid's successful flight. In other words, there were many excellent places where illustrations could have been included and I was extremely disappointed that the illustrations were not there. The text was all on just a few pages like you would expect to see in an adult's book. I believe having just a couple of sentences on each page along with an illustration would have made this book much more enjoyable to children.Product details

Read this to my three daughter's 7, 9, and 10. They enjoyed it and was the perfect bedtime length. Not to mention cheap.
We read this story fir the first time to our 3 month old baby who loves to listen, and it was the perfect length for bedtime. The tale of Akid and Port is very cute, and just like every children's book should, it has a great message of never giving up on what you want. I also liked that the friendship they had helped in order for Akid achieve to his dream.
I read this book with my 6 year old grand daughter and grandson. they likes it. This was a fun read.

The story was just delightful. My 6 and 4 year old grandsons enjoyed the story, but I have been told I can read a great tale. It really needed some illatrations to go along with the wonderful story.

I am giving my honest review in exchange for the free book I received. I choose this story so my four year old nephew could fulfill his summer "reading" requirement of being read THIRTY books. Most Four year olds have a short attention span so using the TEXT TO SPEECH feature on my kindle really helped him pay closer attention to the story. I read the stories first, myself, before putting the kindle in his hands. I thought it was a nice story that was about friendship and showed that with help we can make our dreams come true! I can honestly say my nephew really liked the story. I liked the story and the lessons it taught. So, it fulfilled its purpose.
